I tried to check the valve clearence of my '88Savage - aligned two marks and felt the free play of the valve arms - that showed me that there is clearence. But how much is it - I tried to put a 0.10 mm plate into it and it entered very difficult into all 4 places. Does that mean that the clearence is unsufficient, or shall I perform the whole adjusting procedure from the beginning - loosen the adjusting screws, put the plate and tighten till the plate starts to move difficulty, then tighten the nut on the adjusting screw and all 4 times just to check? I think that two surfaces - of the valve and the adjusting screw are not plain and the 0.10mm plate has to bend its shape in order to enter the nitch. What do you think?
